its a song from the 80′s that i could finally use to descirbe a boy whom we all knew as DINGDONG DANTES. Yup, one remarkable actor who have waited for the right time till his stars shines brighter! Born as Jose Sixto Gonzales Dantes III, is an award-nominated director/actor, born August 2, 1980 who rarely answers issues and controversies who remains to be too private as a celebrity. A man of few words, i should say and let his work speak for himself. Currently, he is one of the most popular & highest paid actors in the Philippines, and is also one of the highest paid underwear model in the country.
Dingdong started as a KFC model in the 90′s and a part of Abztract Dancers. Their group became a regular of local TV shows including the longest running lunch show EAT BULAGA and talent program THATS ENTERTAINMENT. He once then a part of another local network IBC 13 before he transferred to his current mother ship GMA 7. As an actor, he debuted on GMA netwroks highly popular youth-oriented flick T.G.I.S. (Thank God It’s Sabado) credited himself as Raphael Dantes when he was seventeen. His role as the dashing boy-next-door Iñaki was massively well received and contributed much to his growing popularity. Almost immediately, Dantes was already a growing sensation. His pairing with Antoinette Taus, whom he was romantically involved with, spun films like Honey My Love So Sweet and I’m Sorry My Love and other television outings including Anna Karenina. It wasn’t long before Taus left to pursue a film and recording career abroad, by that time, their relationship had ended and Dantes ventured as a solo artist.
A series of other soap opera and TV shows followed including Sana ay Ikaw Na Nga with Tanya Garcia, Starstruck, wag Kang Kukurap, Atlantika and Encantadia whom he played King Ybrahim. His latest soap Marimar, off from a popular mexican telenovela, has even lead him to his unprecedented popularity paired with the current countrys soap vixen marian rivera.
The phenomenal hit and national craze has led to the No. 1 Bachelor of 2007 by Cosmopolitan Magazine (Philippines). He also won the USTV Students’ Choice Award for Most Popular Actor in a Drama/Miniseries. In 2008, he was tagged by his home studio to play the role of Fredo, love interest of a famous local story which is its own version for ‘The little mermaid’ – Dyesebel, who was portrayed by Marian Rivera. In March of that same year, he debuted as the Bench’s newest image model who was rumored as the ‘highest paid underwear celebrity’. He was then formally launched as image model for Bench Underwear in the “Bench Blackout Underwear and Denim Fashion Show.” A few weeks after being launched by Bench, he was also launched by Ibuprofen Medicol as their newest endorser, MyPhone, Grand Matador, Belo Medical Group and many other companies started showing interests in getting him as their endorser.
In August 22, 2008, he was chosen as the only Pinoy as one of the 25 Sexiest Men in the World by E Entertianment as handpicked by the company President.
