Learning LIFE 101

This were originally posted last March 30, 2008.  It was easter Sunday by that time. Read along:

Easter for me is ‘rebirth’.

As we all knew that easter is symbolized by the little bunny with a basket full of colorful eggs in one hand.  (the easter bunny is also a good idea for a Halloween costume as it creates a funny metaphrorical symbol for gays who loves ‘eggs’ in different colors…hehehehehe)

As i look for new materials to post, i stumbled upon text messages i have saved in my laptop that typically give life lessons in small bite sizes.  So here goes the first part of LEARNING LIFE 101.

LESSON 1: Its amazing to realize that living in SIMPLICITY GIVES CONTENTMENT. We go as we come to this world and nothing is ours to keep.. BE HAPPY AND ENJOY LIFE!

LESSON 2: Whenever fate drops pins and needles along your path in life, don’t stay away.  Instead, pick them up and collect them so that the same pins wont hurt you again.

LESSON 3: Everything that happens to you is our teacher.  The secret is to sit at the feet of your own life and be taught by it’ – Gandhi

LESSON 4:

Be thankful that you don’t have everything you desire.  If you did… what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful for your limitations, cause they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for your mistakes.  They teach you valuable lessons that cant be found in any textbooks.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary, because it means you’ve made a difference.

LESSON 5:  The art of being happy lies on the power of finding happiness in ordinary things…life does not force us to be the best, it only asks that we should try…

LESSON 6:  even if you do things the right way…some would still be unsatisfied.  Some will not appreciate what you say and what you do and there would always  be people who would let you down too…but for as long as you speak honestly from the heart, youll be fine.

This is not a perfect world.  This is not a perfect life.

Life is almost always unfair…but life loves the person who dares to live it.

LESSON 7: Its nice to recall our mistakes in the past.  Laugh at our dumb old selves, joke about real life punch lines.  Besides remembering how stupid we were, makes us realize how less stupid we are now…

LESSON 8: There will be days when you get home from a party and forget what the fun was about.  Or have a very long intimate conversation…yet feel there are still words left unspoken.  Or embrace you special someone…yet never have the strength to say you care so much. Life tells  us that happiness is never absolute.  So while its still there…seize the moment.  Cause it may never come again.

LESSON 9: Making a decision takes time.  don’t rush.  Life is like a chess, one wrong move and youre game is all messed up

LESSON 10: Never let anyone make you feel that you don’t deserve what you want.  You are worthy of your happiness.  What they say doesn’t change anything, it doesn’t change you, unless you let it….

LESSON 11: Sometimes you need to experience  everything so that you would learn…theres no easy way in living life so live as it is.

Cry.

Laugh.

Be Crazy.

And don’t miss the chances that life is giving you because  the most important things are not things at all,  most of the time they are people making your life worth living.

LESSON 12:

Let us cherish the moment when were empty but happy

tired but inspired

down but smiling

feeling lost but living for a cause.

That’s life!

LESSON 13: 20 years from now, you would be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the one’s you did do.  So, throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor…Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore. Dream. Discover.

LESSON 14:

Don’t focus on what you lost but what remains.

Don’t focus on the pain but on how the pain is shaping your character.

Don’t focus on the failure but on the great lessons you learned.

LESSON 15: The secret of life isn’t just to live but to have someone special to live for.  We only live once, but if we love right, one lifetime is enough.

LESSON 16: Those who have hurt you in the past cannot continue to hurt you NOT unless you hold on the pain through resentment.  Your past is past!  Nothing will change it.  You are only hurting yourself with your bitterness…For your own sake. Learn from it and then let it go.” – Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life

LESSON 17: Life has great options.  You don’t have to pick what seems to be the best.  Sometimes, the best and the perfect aren’t always what makes you happy.  Follow the desires of your heart.

LESSON 18: Do not place your mistakes on your head…their weight may crush you.  Instead, place them under your feet and use them as platform to view your horizon.

LESSON 19: When people walk away from you, let them go.  Your destiny is never tied  to anybody who leaves you and it doesn’t mean that they are bad people, it just means that they’re part of the story which is over…a history.

LESSON 20: If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces…never be afraid to pick one of those pieces again.  That’s the beauty of being alive – we can always start all over again.

  1. I like what you wrote, it gives life a very positive perspective.I particularly like lesson #17. Sometimes the best and the perfect doesnt make you happy. What makes me happy everyday are the small things like having the sidewalks clean from snow and easy to walk, the bus coming on time, and being able to stay calm in front of a big 3 year old tantrum attack. I too have life lessons of my own. If you want to know what I have learned, go to my blog: http://galitf.wordpress.com

    1. thank you GALIT for your kind comments. (hmmm though your pseudonym seems like a metaphor in life…JOKE). i will surely drop by your blog today.

you are correct. the ‘simplest’ things in life are the most memorable. little things why we need to celebrate life and its complexity.
