Kevin Spacey is #comingout

Hooray for Sir Kevin Spacey and finally admitting that being “Gay is OK”

It may taken him at least 5 decades before he can finally embrace the powerful rainbow until he pulled out his guts and claimed to live freely. Though your #comingout story may have been worst in gay history as it is clouded by negativity, nevertheless as a #progay advocate- I still applaud your sincerity and the beauty that you left all through out your life and career

ADAM LAMBERT’s raunchy performance at AMA

ADAM LAMBERT‘s most recent performance in AMA MUSIC AWARDS has indeed cause huge screams amongst the music industry.  The performance itself has raised eyebrows from some conservatives and skeptics. But for some, including me, LOVED the performance.

The performance itself is just a reflection of the song ‘For your entertainment’ which may have been ‘why’ did they use the S&M theme. Listen to the lyrics and watch the video.

can you handle what i’m about to do

i’m about to turn up the heat

i’m here for your entertainment

when ADAM LAMBERT paints the town in RED…

When Adam Lambert paints the town red… he meant it. For the past few months, Adam Lambert were hitting American tabloids and the internet for his ‘extra curricular activities’.

Well… at this point everything is OUT in the open and so are these pictures I have garnered in cyberspace. Apparently he has tons of photos of himself kissing with with some dude online that were posted on “Vote for the Worst’s message board“. But on a positive note — it appears that Adam Lambert is not promiscuous, the photos BELOW are of the same guy.

the emancipation of ADAM LAMBERT

I’m not a huge fan of the last American Idol wherein Republicans win over Democrats. Yup! I firmly believe that the match between Lambert and Allen is like the American political arena and it shows how they perceive a candidate based on their looks and not on what they can do for the people. I’m not saying that neither of the contestants is inadequate in terms of talent or singing prowess (I’m rooting for the red head girl who was left on the finals…) since both have displayed all of their efforts to provide the audience the best that they can do. What I’m trying to arrive at is how they have presented themselves to the public – Allen as the next boy next door ‘conservative’ type – sleek, squeaky clean and a guy you could always take home and present to your mother –OR-

‘Lambert, an adventurous persona who wears eye liner and keeps us reminded by 80’s artist including Boy George, Kiss and Queen. Well, you could also include The Prince and Elton John for the elaborate costume with an Emo twist.

Though Allen wins over Lambert, up until this point of time, I have read a lot ranting of disputing fans that ‘Mr. Eyeliner’ should have won over ‘the boy next door’.

We have to remember, the faith of each artist lies on a text vote all across the US and perhaps the rest of the world. Just remember how Jasmine Trias landed in top 3. Most of her votes are coming from the Philippines!  We would not be called the texting capital of the world for nothing!!!!  And how about Cook vs. archuleta. There are some rumors that votes coming from Asia gave a heads up for Cook to grab the trophy.

Now that the contest is over, the fuss between the  two kept on.Who would have a successful career and who would create a large following?  I don’t mind if ill hear a progress from Allen since some of his renditions from AI are highly consumable but i’m rather interested with Lamberts talent. He gave outstanding renditions on popular songs which gave him an edge over Allen’s sleek and rather safe repertoire. Lambert is more adventurous and definitely exciting in term of stage persona and taste in music. I love his rendition of Sammy Davis and Nina Simone’s ‘feeling good’and tears for fears ‘mad world’. I don’t mind his costumes or his man make-up as it also add up in his persona as a rocker.  Heck…. We even love KISS and they wear more than that!  I don’t want to watch a guy in stage for more than 2 hours who looks plain and simple. I wanted to be amazed and entertained which is the main reason why they are on stage and not on the audience area.

Hell, Lambert even landed the cover of Rolling Stones(celebrities who graced the cover in the past includes Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. Other celebrities took more than a year or two of hard labor before they even landed to its RS cover, ‘but Lambert has easily snagged the cover after a few months from the time he finished 2nd place from AI….. 2nd place girls…. He didn’t even bring home the bacon in this case)!!!!

Now as he finally admitted publicly that he indeed is ‘gay’(uhmmm are there anything that we need to know? Isn’t it that the man make-up, eye liner and eccentric costumes are dead give away???), Lambert is once again in the spotlight and audience are betting if he will even succeed in his career after public admition. Some say that it is a ‘career suicide’, but who know what the future behold???

Though that Lambert did not elaborate his sexuality during the competition – he didn’t deny it as well.  Lambert also further explain that he just don’t want the voting publics decision to be tarnished and focus on his sexuality rather than his talent. True, the competition is all about singing so why does he need to elaborate his preference and why don’t they just focus on his talent.

I wish the best for Lambert and I for one will support him – straight or not. He is a great artist and we will never see another him for centuries. He has a superb voice with great taste in music. He knew how to render each songs and where he needs to give emphasis with all due respect to the original artist who sung it and to the songwriters who created it.

But of course in a cynical world, we can’t help it… but people may judge us because of our preference.  Some even despise us even if were no doing anything bad against them. They just don’t like us because we are gay. Some straight secretly likes us but they treat us like we have N1H1. Its like when they talk with their buddies and one of their straight friends will utter dismay when they spotted a gay guy across the dining area and this guy will open bad gay jokes for ENTERTAINMENT but they secretly hide expose magazines and Streisand albums in their closet.

Just my two cents and I hope Adam would be able to read this post, I hope for the best in your career. I also hope that you would be able to write your own songs like Elton John. Elton is one of my idols and each song’s he makes is a hit irregardless of the glamorous costumes and fake wigs he wears in concert. I feel this will give you an edge to other new artist who sprouts like mushrooms almost every season. Continue getting better with your talent. Don’t just take the laurels in stride but always strive hard for better. ‘Remember, there are only a few singers who ‘outed’ themselves and become successful – SOME remain in the closet before, during or even after their death (and even if they are six feet under the ground, their lives are still a ‘hush hush’).

What I’m trying to arrive at is only a few singers has been able to live to be the person as they are.The living proof will be Elton John and George Michael.
They have been able to reach their goal after they have been able to surpass each walls laid in front of them. Aside from their marvelous voice, they know how to write the songs they sing and have been able to capture the hearts of every Harry, Mary, Dick and Tracy. At this point, the looks and the voice comes second if you don’t know how to handle your current talent, develop and flourish during the process. Learn to take good care of your fans and respect the comments of other without loosing focus.  Just rely on your gut in choosing songs to render and give your very best. TO ADAM…. my sincerest hugs on your journey!!!!  Make us PROUD!!!!I have attacehd below some of his grand performances in AI that i dearly love. Enjoy!!!

speaking of survivor, I would like to feature the OUT model JP Calderon.  the moment i first laid my hands on him… i said  ‘WOW…AS IN WOW…’

he is nice, kind and not to mention…drop dead gorgeous!

as i fondly watched The Janice Dickenson Show, my world seems to stop as i first met him. But other than his triceps and endearing eyes, what makes him so special is how she interacts with people.  you could almost see the kindness in his heart – quiet, nice and yet humble.

so this post is a celebration of coming out and embrasing once sexuality. To JP…may you keep us inspired for the rest of the days to come.

to know more about JP, here’s a brief bio from wikipedia following an excerpt from his interview at Instinct Magazine. Enjoy!

John Paul “J.P.” Calderon (born September 5, 1975 in Santa Monica, California, U.S.) is a professional volleyball player, model and reality television participant. He first appeared on television as a contestant on the controversial racially segregated Survivor: Cook Islands, the 13th season of the CBS reality show. Later, he returned to television by appearing on several episodes to date of The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, and as part of his experience there he made an appearance in the February 2007 cover story in Instinct magazine.

Calderon grew up in Marina del Rey, California and attended California State University, Long Beach, where he played for the school’s nationally-ranked men’s volleyball team. He graduated with a degree in speech communication in 2000.

Calderon was an assistant coach for the Long Beach State University women’s volleyball team for five years. He began his professional volleyball career in 2004 and became a nationally ranked Association of Volleyball Professionals player.

On Survivor: Cook Islands, Calderon started off as one of five members of the Hispanic “Aitutaki” tribe. After the tribes were merged on day eight he became a member of the “Rarotonga” tribe. Calderon was the fourth cast member voted off in a 7/2 split.

In 2007, Calderon joined the cast of The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. Stating that he had for a long time wished to model, Calderon came to an open casting call held in the first episode of season 2. He was called back in episode 2 and signed to the agency. In episode three, Calderon was approached to appear on the cover of Instinct magazine, a magazine that requires that its male cover models be openly gay. Calderon came out as gay on the cover of the February 2007 issue, including the cover, a photo spread, feature story and interview. “All of my fears, everything that I was scared of … it was the complete the opposite,” he said. “It’s been great. All of my friends, the volleyball world, absolutely everybody has been supportive. No one has shut me out.”

FROM INSTINCT MAGAZINE: J.P. Calderon, star of Survivor: Cook Islands, comes out to Instinct Magazine in an exclusive interview that lands him the cover of the publication’s February swimsuit issue. Instinct Editor In Chief Mike Wood conducted J.P.’s heartfelt coming out interview as The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency crew followed the two of them around the set of the cover shoot.

The first half of the two-part episode airs on Oxygen this Wednesday, January 24, at 10 p.m. “It’s not every day somebody gets slapped in the face with a major magazine like Instinct, Janice Dickinson, her TV show,” says Calderon. “I think I’m just supposed to do this!” Calderon has now signed with Janice Dickinson’s agency. “It wasn’t until last year when my dad died that I did Survivor, I said yes to Janice Dickinson, to [Instinct]. I’m coming out and I’m living.

He is a recipient of YOUNG ARTIST AWARD for three consecutive years (1990-1992) and was nominated twice for Golden Globes (1989 & 1992) and Emmy Awards (2007 & 2008).  He even knocks a nomination for Teen Choice Awards (2007) and Peoples Choice (2008).  The talented and funny man NEIL PATRICK HARRIS has nothing more to prove.

Though he is best known as a whiz kid – Doogie Howser, M.D. and currently as the womanizing Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother , HARRIS has proven admitting once sexual preference is NOT a persons eternal mistake.  It serves as a benchmark that being gay in the public’s eye is just a phase and NOT a career suicide.

In November 2006, after a report about Harris’ romantic relationship with actor David Burtka surfaced on an online site, Harris came out publicly in People magazine.  He explained that he had been openly gay in his personal life and in the theater community.  He explained, “[T]he public eye has always been kind to me, and until recently I have been able to live a pretty normal life. Now it seems there is speculation and interest in my private life and relationships. So, rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love.”  Harris and Burtka have been together since 2004 and he refers David as ‘his better half and an amzing chef’.  Their first public appearnce as gay couple is through the 2007 Emmy Awards.

The clip below shows Harris appearance at The Ellen DeGeneres Show wherein he discusses his sexual preference.

He is known as Dr. George O’Malley on ABC‘s top-rated medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, 35 year old  (born March 26, 1973) Emmy Award-nominated and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning American actor Theodore Raymond “T.R.” Knight affirmed his sexual orientation in  October 19, 2006 — after the mud slinging incident that involves two of his co stars including Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington on the set of Greys Anatomy — when he released a statement through People magazine stating, in part, “I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I’d like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there. While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I’m gay isn’t the most interesting part of me.”

Though the said issue was way past our bedtime stories, but it remains one of the most liberating stories in the gay community that keeps the rainbow flame alive and kicking.  Below is an excerpt on an interview with TR Knight published at last September 28, 2007.  At the bottom part of this post, you will find the clip (01/17/2007) wherein TR Knight appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and stated that Washington in fact had referred to him as a faggot on the Grey’s Anatomy set on October 9, 2006.  Before the said appearance at ‘The Ellen Show’,  Washington behemently denied the accusation when Ted Casablanca of E! Online inquired the said verbal incident during 2007 Golden Globe Awards. Washington said, “I never called T.R. a faggot. It never happened.”

I bet no one really believe Isaiah.

NEW YORK    T.R. Knight says he’s evolved as a person since announcing last October that he’s gay.

“I feel I’ve learned so much this past year, so I’m grateful for that — so, yeah, that changes you,” the 34-year-old actor said Thursday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Knight, who plays Dr. George O’Malley on ABC’s hit medical drama, “Grey’s Anatomy,” announced that he’s gay after it surfaced that Isaiah Washington had used an anti-gay slur against him during an on-set clash with a co-star.

Washington, 44, was booted from his role as a surgeon on the show after he used an anti-gay epithet backstage at the Golden Globe Awards in January while denying he’d used it previously on the set against Knight.

He publicly apologized and tried to make amends by meeting with gay-rights organizations and filming a public-service announcement calling for tolerance.

Knight said telling the world you’re gay isn’t an easy thing to do.

“Everyone has their own path,” he said. “You just have to respect that. I know a lot of people who make statements but you have to do it when it’s right for you.”

Knight joked that he’s dating someone very close to “Grey’s Anatomy” co-star Katherine Heigl.

“Recently Kate and her fiance, Josh Kelley, and me and her mom went out to dinner … and it was reported that it was with me and my new boyfriend. But that was really her mom,” he told DeGeneres.

So I guess I’m dating Katherine’s mom right now,” he quipped.

member since 1997: the day i came OUT

I was often asked when did i finally knew that im gay …

well… my memory is quite vague since it will date back when i was still a kid where everything seems to be sooo innocent.

But what i can remember is when i finally admitted and realized that being ‘OUT’ is A-okay.  And that is when i met these girls: Ingrid, Karen, Royce, Rosalie, Arlene, Jane, Clarisse, Flor, Jasmine, Myra and a tranny named Russel.

Its when i finally admitted that im different and i wouldnt *fcuk a straight woman for that matter.  I got my own doze of experimentation but i dont think that i even made it to the 2nd base (at least what i conciously know…hmmm).

it was my second year in college.  i know by that time, im quite confused since my so-called all-boys group is sensing that i dont really belong to the straight guys league.  one day, i caught them talking about me and me being malamya and ‘gay’.

i overheard one of them – and he blatantly called me ‘FREAK’ it dramatically affects ME by that time.  My grades started to fluctuate and i cant even focus on my studies.  Im SCARED TO DEATH and worst… I DONT KNOW WHOM I NEED TO GO TO FOR ADVICE!

it seems im keeping ‘THE SECRET’ that i have quietly kept my entire life and now its about to be revealed to rest of the world.  i stayed quietly on the sidelines and let life pass by as i snugged a little pandoras box within my chest.  i kept the secret even to my dear father.  he died not even knowing who i really am.

you have to understand … i came from a clan where masculinity is its primary ID.  my dad owns a vulcanizing and a billiard shop.  my other uncle whom i affectionately call ‘tito totoy’, hates GAYS while my ‘tito beth’ waltzes back and forth in prison for several misdemeanor and lawless acts.  i could still remember how he hits the headlines because he flew out from jail (being a celebrity is not that all glamour). my aunts husband is a tough police officer in iloilo who surprisingly knew everything what we do.  my cousin just told me that he hires a spy.  plus, my i live in a tough neighborhood and i have not seen a pink stiletto worn by a 5’9 male basketball player. so now you know see the full picture.

it was a tough day for me… i was so confused … I LIKE TO SHOUT on top of my lungs.  an upcoming ad campaign is coming up and im still half way finished with my school projects.  i know by that time that my ‘secret’ is eating me alive and im a huge mess.

by that time, there is a group of girls who become my antogonists for over a year.  headed by my high school nemesis named Ingrid.  she hated me so much since im her number one academic contender.  well, im not lifting my own chair but i left her and climb a few more notches as i end up in section two (a total of 48 sections for one year only) during my high school years.

mid afternoon, i went out of the class and while walking the hall way, still secretly wiping my tears – i felt so all alone.

i lost my whole male ‘barkada’.  im trying to look for a place of refuge as i saw a nearby cafeteria which the students fondly call ‘kawayan’ (basically because of obvious reasons).  i recognized familiar faces as they fan themselves and having a time of their life.  i slowly walk through their direction as they gazed at me as if they knew what happen.

silence……waiting for me to utter even a word. i guess rumours spread easily like fire.

i slowly lift my head and utter

‘well….yes…im gay’

the girls screamed as if they have been waiting for it forever.  as if i have gave them the formula to cure AIDS and the the rest is history…as they say.  there is no turning back.

Now, i hardly heard about my 11 former straight commrades.  the last time ive heard about them – they all have their own set of families and children as well.  one of them has recently married whom ive had a ‘past’ with.  ironically, he married the same girl whom i courted when im still on my stage of ‘denial’.

my gal pal are still in tact.  three of them i hardly talk with because of various reasons – proximity and hatred while others simply driftted away.  ingrid, jane and arlene are now based on other countries but still happily connected with each other while karen is starting a new life as she comes back home.  clarissa is still working and happy with its simple single life while myra is contented with his married life.

things changed and so our lives.  we lead a different life indeed.  but as for me, after that mid-afternoon pledge in 1997, i freed myself out from my own bondage and i promised myself, i will never get back in that closet…again.
